Wellstar’s Strategic Community Development (SCD) is focused on aligning with academic and workforce development community partners to create talent pipelines for both clinical and non-clinical careers in healthcare and at Wellstar.
One of Wellstar’s valued partners is Be Pro Be Proud Georgia. Be Pro Be Proud is an initiative started by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development and they are leading the movement to bring a new generation of pride, progress and professionals to Georgia’s skilled workforce. They have a mobile workshop that travels to high schools across the state exposing students to skilled trade professions through hands-on experiences and interactive stimulations. Wellstar is the sponsor of the two healthcare stations onboard.
This spring, Wellstar had opportunities to directly support students involved with Be Pro Be Proud. Wellstar Douglas Hospital healthcare professionals visited with students at Alexander High School and spoke with them about their careers, shared their passion for the work they do, and answered questions about the healthcare field.
Wellstar was also represented at Be Pro Be Proud’s Skilled Professionals Signing Day where Be Pro Be Proud Georgia, the Cherokee County School District, Chattahoochee Technical College and Cherokee Office of Economic Development recognized graduating seniors from six high schools who committed to start training or working in a skilled trades career after graduation.
Wellstar looks forward to continuing their support of Be Pro Be Proud and the students they impact as they expand even further across the state when school resumes in the fall.
